Preparing for your electrolysis treatment

Whether it’s your first ever appointment or the 12th, here are useful ways to prepare for treatment to help you achieve maximum results and feel most comfortable.

Do:

  • Grow - hair needs to be long enough for me to grab with tweezers - 3 days should be enough. Trimming and shaving IS allowed in between treatments, but remember to allow time to grow before your appointment.

  • Hydrate - drink plenty of water (2 litres is good!)

  • Moisturise - 2-3 nights before your treatment to hydrate the skin

  • Clean and cleanse - arrive make up free with cleansed skin to ensure I can see your hair follicles, and so that you don’t need to do this after treatment. I’d also recommend showering before your treatment to allow your skin and pores to heal peacefully

  • Exfoliate- with a glove or sugar scrub to prevent/reduce ingrowns and expose the hair

  • Nourish - eat nutrient rich food and limit sugar - this contributes to successful healing

  • Purchase - pure Aloe Vera and pure Witch Hazel ready to use after your treatment - I have these available to purchase for £3.00

Avoid:

  • Acids and retinols - any chemicals, abrasive products must not be used one week before treatment, and one week after

  • Tweezing, waxing, threading - or anything that pulls the hair out from the root. Only trimming and shaving is allowed in between appointments

  • Alcohol and caffeine - 24 hours before your treatment. These are dehydrating and will affect the electrolysis current

  • Sun exposure - 24 hours before and after your treatment - please also let me know if you have any holidays in the sun planned!

If opting for numbing cream, please note this needs to be purchased and applied by you, the client, before your treatment. This must be applied 20-30 minutes before your appointment time and can be wrapped in cling film for extra effect.
